Horikane Junior High school is in Sayama, Saitama, Japan. It is situated in a rural area surrounded by green teafields. On a clear day, you can see a beautiful view of Mount Fuji in the distance. The name 'Horikane' comes from 'to dig a well (horikane no i)'. There was an important well near our school. There are 3 grades. Junior High1 (Grade 7), Junior High 2 (Grade 8), and Junior High 3 (Grade 9). We have about 35 students in each class. There are about 30 staff members in Horikane Junior High School plus the principal, vice-principal, and head teacher. There are 14 clubs, such as kendo, art, drama, brass band, soccer, tennis, computers, basketball, track and field, volleyball,table tennis, baseball, softball, etc. The students practice club everyday for about 1 or 2 hours. Each teacher is in charge of a school club. We have three terms in a year. |
